Your Sioux Center Guide to all things Christmas

As the holidays approach, and school lets out for the semester, there’s plenty of winter and holiday fun to be had. This post will feature festive fun events hosted by the library as well as a round up of community events to keep your families entertained over the break. Happy Holidays!

Christmas Open House at the Library

December 23, 12 – 2p.m

Join us at the library for our first ever Christmas Open house event featuring live musicians playing your favorite Christmas classics. We will also serve hot chocolate. Come and go as your please, or stay and listen to the full two hours fanatic local musicians playing Christmas Carols.

Christmas Break Activities at Prairie Woods Nature Center

Nature Center Hours: 9 a.m. – 4 p.m. Tuesdays Wednesdays and Fridays, 1 – 4 p.m. Thursdays and Saturdays. Closed on Christmas and New Years day.

The Prairie Woods Nature Center is hosting a variety of holiday activities. The Candycane Hike is a one mile loop of trail with hidden items to find. Inside the nature center, You can build a gingerbread village, view the nature center exhibits, which are decorated for Christmas, and vote on your favorite Christmas tree in the Christmas tree decorating contest.

The Library submitted a tree to the tree decorating contest at Prarie Woods Nature Center. We were challenged to craft our ornaments using newspaper. Come vote for our tree during the nature center’s open hours. 🎄🎄🎄

Christmas lights for a cause at Heritage Village

Hours the lights will be on: 5-10 p.m. daily, until Dec 31.

Come see the Christmas lights at Heritage Village! Sponsored by People’s bank, all the proceeds from this event will benefit ATLAS and the Center for Financial Education, a Christian non-profit that connects people in need to resources, including financial literacy, mentoring, and car repair. A Season of Light Christmas Storywalk

Hours: The story walk will be available during operating hours at Center Mall until January 2.

This year’s book is Season of Light by Jess Redman. Pages of the story will be displayed in the windows of businesses at the mall. Stop by the library to get a map, and come back once you’ve completed the the story, for a prize. Check out our Thursdays on the Town video featuring the Christmas Story Walk!

Despicable Me 4: Jan 4 showings at 11 a.m. and noon. Jan 5, noon showing.
