Share your blessings: Food for Fines at the Library

This November, the library is offering a unique way to give back to the community: Food for Fines. Instead of paying your fine in cash, you can donate any non-perishable items, like canned goods, dry goods or hygiene items for $2 off your fine per item. If you don’t have fines on your account but wish to make a donation, you may pick an item from our book sale.

We do not accept perishable items like produce or meat.

At the end of the month, these items will be donated to either MidSioux Opportunity or the Hope Food Pantry.

We have so many things to be thankful for during the holiday season, and full stomachs are one of them. Through Food for Fines, we encourage you to bring a generous spirit to the library and donate goods to non-profits who can use them to benefit our community.

Where your donations will go:

The Hope Food Pantry, located south of Sioux Center, off of Highway 75 distributes boxes of food each Wednesday, and has a clothing shop for other needs. On their website the Hope Food Pantry listed paper towels, cleaning supplies, and toilet paper as their most needed donations.

MidSioux provides a wide variety of services to the Northwest Iowa, including assistance with childcare, applying for WIC, nutrition assistance for pregnant mothers and young children, housing support for low income families and more. Donated items will go to the MidSioux Oppourtunity Food Pantry.
