New Reviews in our Catalog

It is easy to forget that we have reviews being added to our catalog all the time! So here is your reminder! I will share some of these with you just to wet your whistle.

While you were out : an intimate family portrait of mental illness in an era of silence by Meg Kissinger

“All the stars for this memoir! The story is raw and shares both the author’s personal story as well as her journalistic efforts to examine, expose, and analyze the broken mental health care system in our country. The book is so well written and the reader has a front row seat to both the incredibly hard events, as well as the humorous stories that grace the pages and the honest examination of how to provide holistic care to individuals, families, and communities impacted by mental illness. “

Fair Rosaline by Natasha Solomons

“A captivating story with an intriguing twist on the romance b/w Romeo and Juliet. Refreshing to read about the absurdity of dying for young love. Had some feminism, probably too much considering the time period, but not overwhelming.”

The Bitter Past by Bruce Borgos

This thriller is a great debut! You will not want to put it down. If you like police procedurals – spy novels – thrillers – you will enjoy this book!

The Block Party by Jamie Day

“If you want a wild time, come to the Block Party at Alton Road! Secrets are uncovered and they are everywhere! You must go back a year to get the entire picture. Hold on – it’s a thriller!”

Flee north : a forgotten hero and the fight for freedom in slavery’s borderland  by Scott Shane

“A best non-fiction for me! We’re all different but being bullied for 4 years in a “Christian” High, I can totally relate. There should be a documentary and a statue of T. Smallwood. Loved all of this book! “

The Worlds I See : curiosity, exploration, and discovery at the dawn of AI by Fei-Fei Li

“An encouraging look at the development of artificial intelligence. Really helped me understand how this field developed. While the author is a strong proponent of A I, she recognizes the dangers of its unregulated development. She is quick to point to the need for an ethical framework in the field and demonstrates that many in the field are lacking a framework. Accessible for those without any knowledge of the field of AI.”

Never Wager with a Wallflower by Virginia Heath

“I enjoyed this book and the previous books by this author. Fun, witty, easy to read.”
